Once upon a time, computers were like aliens to us and now our lives revolve around computers. Nowadays we can’t survive a single day without computers. In today’s scenario building a PC could be a much needed as well as interesting idea as we can become technically aware in the process.

While building a PC could be a challenging task, the to-dos after building the computer are nonetheless. However, you can also check UltimatePC which is India’s most trusted and emerging Custom PC builder for your high-end PC building needs.

You have a well-furnished kitchen and all the needed utensils so that you can cook a meal but if you don’t know how to use those utensils, you can’t cook your meal despite having every other arrangement. Like that, building a computer is not enough to have its proper function on an everyday basis, and here the question arises, what to do after building your computer?

If you’re anything like me, your weekends are typically filled with long periods of computer building. While there are several things I have to do while doing the PC build, there are also a few things that I need to be careful of because they have the potential to be hazardous if done incorrectly.

For example, a lot of people may clean out their case with compressed air or a vacuum and then let it dry before moving on to the next task. This can be fine, but if you don’t shut down the computer first, that can be a bad idea.

There are some other things I’m sure many of you have forgotten to do as well. There’s no reason not to do them, but if you forget to do them it may easily prevent your computer from working right or even explode in a shower of sparks and fire.

Some of these things are obvious and done all the time, while others just might not have occurred to you yet:

It is time to clean up and organize. You have built your computer and now you think that you should throw away all the packaging? Well, don’t. When you will be making the hardware upgrades the original packaging would be a proper place where you can keep the used parts alive. You can use those when you plan to make another computer too. The leftover boxes, static proof bags, bubble wrap are useful as well and you can store them in an organized way for further use.

You need to store the leftovers like hardware documentation, driver disks, and receipts in a separate folder so those are easily accessible to you when you will install drivers for the hardware. A clean list of manufacturers and model numbers may help you too.

  • BIOS Configuration is Inevitable:-

The human body is not alive without a soul, similarly, a computer is not active without BIOS configuration. BIOS or Basic Input/Output System is pre-installed software on every motherboard, it is mainly responsible for booting up the whole system. It tells the computer how to use its hardware.

One can access BIOS settings by pressing a combination of keys which depends on the setting of the motherboard, during the computer’s power-on self-test. It could be helpful for you if you check the BIOS updates from your motherboard, although it is not necessary to have a newer version of BIOS, the updates may improve the compatibility with certain hardware, like CPU and memory.

  • Install a Suitable Operating System for Your Device:-

Do you want to operate your computer smoothly? Then install a suitable operating system in your device. The process of installation is different for different types of operating systems.

In the process of installation, you will be given a series of prompts that will guide you throughout the process. You will be given the allowance to select the operating system components as per your need. After your selection is over, it will take about an hour or more to complete the whole process.

  • Drivers Not For Your Car But Your Hardware: –

After the installation of a suitable operating system, your computer is set to run but with some basic hardware. You need to boost the potential of your hardware and here comes the importance of drivers

If you are using the latest version of a window then windows will install the drivers automatically but if the version is old then you need to install drivers for your hardware on your own. Instead of having windows search for drivers or following the default ones, you can choose the option to install drivers manually from a list or specific locations.

  • Just Don’t Build a Computer, Build a Secured Computer:-

We are living in a world where we are being tracked continuously. In the world of digital surveillance, securing your device is a must.

To make your device secure, it is important to use antivirus, antispyware, and firewall software. Getting security software is one of the most important things that you should do after building your computer. If you need to get your security software from the internet then it would be best for you if you copy the installation software of your already protected machine to your new machine. If it is not possible in your case then you should be able to get away with connectivity and then get the software.

  • Load the Applications, Remove the Junk:-

Finally, your device is ready to install the applications you want or need in your device. You can install any application you want, it could be Microsoft office, media players, various kinds of games, any tutorial applications like Microsoft Teams, and whatnot. You have to make sure that you have installed all the applications you need and at the same time take time to get rid of the junk that you don’t need.

Conclusion:-

This is it! These are some easy but important steps that you may follow after building your computer. If you follow the given instructions sincerely then you can build a computer and have its smooth performance. You know the steps now, so don’t wait, build your device and enjoy a happy experience with lots of learning!
